Kenya 2005
The Christmas Story
In 2005 the Eagle Wing Team visited three orphanages. Those orphanages are
not what you would find in the States. The buildings do not have a floor and
children sleep on the ground. The kids are orphaned due to AIDS or from clashing
tribes in civil war.
After asking
the orphanages what they needed most they all said, "A Cow."
With a cow they can have milk, make butter, and sell the excess to buy other
food products. A cow cost $500 and the Eagle Wing Team pledged each orphanage a
cow.
Upon arriving home from Kenya, "The Saint Charles Journal" ran a story about
John Hays about his experience in Kenya. Within two weeks enough money had been
raised and today they all have a cow.
Now it is Christmas and the kids still sleep on the ground. A bunk bed cost
about $100 and about 30 are needed. It is the prayer of the EWM team leaders
that bunk beds can arrive on Christmas morning.
Three checks have been received. One lady gave a check for $50 and hopes someone
will buy the bottom. The top bunk is only good if it has a bottom bunk.
Five
beds have been funded. Will you made it six? Every dime given to this project
goes directly to the beds. The money is wired to Kenya where Pastor Shem will
make the arrangements.
Have some fun, buy a bunk bed for $100 and get a kid off the ground.
