Good morning,
The purpose of this section is to be aware of the presence of God everyday.
It is not a scientific exposition of the scriptures but rather a kitchen table
coffee conversation reflecting on the daily scripture.
There is something cozy about sitting around the kitchen table and drinking
coffee with a friend. This is the setting for Conversational Commentary.
Your
emails are welcome.
Matthew Chapter 1:1 "A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David,
the son of Abraham." This chapter connects the dots between the promise God made
to Abraham in Genesis 15-17 and his keeping of the promise in Jesus. There are a
lot of begots, everyone dies and I feel my mortality.
But because of Christ I also feel my immortality, a hope.
There was a time when all I had to look forward to was disease, old age, and
death. Now because of Christ I have a hope that my mortality will give way to
immorality.
Enough heavy stuff: Even with the hope of immortality my heart is often polluted
with the things of this world. The following verse helps, "If our heart condemns
us, God is greater than our heart and knows all things."
Wonderful, with the pain of imperfection, God understands.
Coffee break and off to work.
A friend once told me of a conversation with an Olympic runner. "What gives him
the discipline to run everyday?" Reply, "I put my pants on and get out the
door."
